How To Reuse

How to Reuse
Home > How to Reuse

Save money when you reuse regular household items in new ways!

Got several small pieces of bar soap left?  Instead of tossing them, put them in a small net bag so you can use all of the soap.

Save bread heels and stale bread to make bread crumbs with.

After using dryer sheets once (or even twice!) in the dryer, put them aside to use as dust cloths.  They work great for collecting dust!  You can also put two on the end of your Swiffer Duster.

Use vinegar in the rinse cycle of every load instead of fabric softener or color safe bleaches.  A cup of vinegar does it all and for so much less, and without all the chemicals of other products.

I pour the bacon grease from the pan into my dog's dry food and mix it up.  She loves the treat, and it helps keep her coat shiny!

Put aside empty cans from your canned vegetables, decorate with some decoupage, paper meche, paint, etc., and use for a pretty pencil cup!

Save empty cereal boxes for arts and crafts projects that require poster board material (as long as it will be painted or covered in some way!).

Save paper egg cartons for art projects with the kids, like the one we have here.

Use fruit and veggie scraps from the kitchen to make a compost heap, which is then used to naturally fertilize your lawn and garden.

Let the kids decorate a paper towel tube to make it look like a pretend telescope lens!

Use large cardboard boxes to hold your recyclables instead of purchasing bins.

Save all of your scrapbooking supply scraps.  You never know when you can use them.

Use old CD's for drink coasters.

Old baskets are great for organizing art supplies, cleaning supplies, beauty products, etc.

Don't throw out the dryer lint!  Check out it's uses in the garden and for crafts projects.

When your garden hose gets too holey, put it to a number of new uses you can learn about here.

Write your grocery list on a used envelope and put your coupons inside of it.

Use old shower curtains for picnic table tablecloths, after soaking in a tub of water and vinegar for a couple of hours to clean and sterilize.

Use old sheets to make laundry bags.

Save flower vases you receive and fill with flowers for gift giving.

Use empty yogurt containers to store leftovers or pack a lunch.

Save carpet scraps for a mat in the doghouse.

Paint a chipped or cracked coffee mug to use as a pencil holder or small planter.

Use an old belt for a dog collar.  Put a metal ring on it for the tags.

Save your bottle corks and glue them to a wood backing to make a cork board or pot holder.

Use an empty plastic 2-liter soda bottle to make a bird feeder.  Find the instructions here.
